Super happy with this race.  I haven't run under 1:50 since 2009 when I left sea-level so that was the big goal for today. I wasn't sure if I could do it on this course, but I wanted to try. I generally don't wear my garmin for important races because I know that the miles never match up.  Not thinking, I wore mine today and for the first 8 miles or so I was only focusing on my average pace and not paying attention that my miles were recording way before the race markers.  I thought I was running 1:47-1:48 pace easily.  Then the 1:50 pacer went by me.  I thought "oh, he's going way too fast."  At mile 10 I was able to do the math, and I realized that he wasn't too fast and that if I really wanted to break 1:50, I had to pick it up.  It hurt, but somehow I managed to pick it up to the finish.  After the race, I walked back to Liberty Park and ran a 2 mile cooldown home along the marathon route.  I thought it would pump me up for Utah Valley, but it really just reminded me how much the marathon hurts!

Nice race on Saturday. I love the line about "how much the marathon hurts." Why do we torture ourselves? Good luck at UVM.

Nice run Tina! Agreed about the marathon. For me, the worst time to start thinking about a marathon is after I've just run a half....you've run long enough to know how much it sucks, then you get to go and double it. But I just put in for St. George, so that shows how much I know!
