8 minutes better than last year's disaster where I positive split this course. Kept the uphill miles under 9, and all the downhills under 8. Panicked a bit when I started seeing 7:xx miles, but held it together. My downhill running is improving. I'm excited to to see what I can do once I start consistently doing speedwork again.

Easy recovery run on the wood chips at Liberty. Hips and quads are a bit sore from yesterday's race.  It was such a nice night to run, though.

Super happy with this race.  I haven't run under 1:50 since 2009 when I left sea-level so that was the big goal for today. I wasn't sure if I could do it on this course, but I wanted to try. I generally don't wear my garmin for important races because I know that the miles never match up.  Not thinking, I wore mine today and for the first 8 miles or so I was only focusing on my average pace and not paying attention that my miles were recording way before the race markers.  I thought I was running 1:47-1:48 pace easily.  Then the 1:50 pacer went by me.  I thought "oh, he's going way too fast."  At mile 10 I was able to do the math, and I realized that he wasn't too fast and that if I really wanted to break 1:50, I had to pick it up.  It hurt, but somehow I managed to pick it up to the finish.  After the race, I walked back to Liberty Park and ran a 2 mile cooldown home along the marathon route.  I thought it would pump me up for Utah Valley, but it really just reminded me how much the marathon hurts!

PM: Boston Memorial run at Salt Lake Running Co.  Noticed this about to start just down my street so I jumped in last minute.  I was pretty tired from Saturday's race and the morning bootcamp, but I ran this way faster than I should have.

This was just awful.  Weather looked sketchy so I decided to do 11-12 loops of Liberty for my long run.  After 5.5 slow loops I was bored and wanted to quit.  But since nothing hurt and my pace was actually increasing, I continued on. Things really fell apart on the last 2 loops.  Major stomach issues.  I quit running a 1/2 loop earlier than planned  and had to stop and sit down a few times on the walk to my car because I was so queasy. Glad this one is over.  Every time I try to do more than 4 loops of Liberty, it goes badly.
