| | I am so sore. Headed out for a walk/run in the evening. The plan was to walk to Liberty, run 3-4 miles then walk home. I felt like I was going to be sick and never made it to the run part. Got 2 miles of walking in.

| | I went down to Provo to run the Blue Skies for Amber 5k fun run. She died base jumping and her family put on a race to benefit the Utah Food Bank. I used to work with her brother so I decided to run this. It was on the Rock Canyon trail. The course was an out and back and climbed 1000 ft on the way out. I think my time was 40 minutes. Definitely my slowest 5k ever. It was technical in spots so I was very cautious on the way down. It was a pretty trail and great day to be running.

| | On Pipeline. First half with Vanessa and Kris, second half on my own. It was a gorgeous morning and I felt so good. This was the best I've felt on a long run in a long time.

| | Warm-up 1 mile to Liberty Park. 10 minutes at marathon effort / 2 minutes easy; 8 minutes at half marathon effort / 4 easy; Run 6 minutes at 10K effort / 6 easy; 4 minutes at 5K effort / 8 easy; 2 minutes at faster than 5k effort. Cool-down home.
I programmed the garmin to beep at these intervals so I could focus on the effort, not watching my watch. Paces didn't make any sense so not sure what was going on. At one point during the first hard efort, it said I was running 23 minute miles. Oh well, the workout was about the effort and I think I got that right.

| | 1 mile warm-up to Liberty Park. 3 x 1 mile tempo pace with 3 minutes recovery + 3 x 30 sec fast with 1 minute recovery. 1 mile cool down home.
Really struggled on this. Came no where near tempo pace, more like MP. Splits of 8:01, 8:31, 8:35. I don't think the first was really 8:01. My effort felt consistent and my garmin was jumping all over on that one. Pace was anywhere from 7:50 to 9:45. Fell asleep mentally a bit on the 3rd one which is why it was slower.

| | City Creek 4up/4 down. Last 4 were supposed to be at or faster than SGM goal pace. I didn't want to push too hard so I stayed around goal MP 8:30-8:35 for 3, then shut it down because my legs felt cold and heavy.

| | Warmup to Liberty Park. 2 miles at goal MP. First mile right on at 8:30. Then started talking and didn't realize the pace had slowed way down (to 9:30!) at the half. Picked it up to finish at 8:50. 3 x 30 sec pickups. Cool down home. If I average 8:40s at SGM, it will be a huge PR. I believe I can do it.
