Race: Winter Series 5k (3.107 Miles) 00:24:30
Total Distance
5.50

Warmup with Vanessa., 5k in 24:30 (by my watch, 24:37 gun time), cool down with Vanessa. Not bad at all considering I rarely run under 9 minute miles anymore and haven't done any speed work since summer. Splits were all pretty consistent around 7:53. It's been awhile since I ran sub 8s on a non-aided coourse.

Looking back, I ran this race about 1 minute faster than 2012 (didn't run last year).  I didn't run the miles that I wanted to in 2013, but I worked on my strength and core and it seems to be paying off. I'm really enjoying running right now and I'm running better lately than I have in several years.  Looking forward to the rest of 2014!

Amiee, very happy to see you on the road to recovery again (hopefully for the last time)! We should plan breakfast, or coffee, or dinner and catch up sometime. When you are back to running, we need to go for a trail run at some point.

I was in a running funk most of last year resulting in lack of blogging. I was fat, unmotivated, and not really loving running. But that has turned around, so hopefully I will post (and run) consistently thorough 2014!

Nice run Tina! I think I've run with you on a couple of the track club runs, but I'm semi-new and still matching names to faces. Looks like you came in just behind me, which means you'd probably own me at anything over 5k. Are you doing the rest of the series races?

Thanks Kevin! Good race to you, too. Nice to see you on here. I saw you at the start of the 5k, although I didn't recall your name. I remembered you as the Evanston guy, though.

I'm signed up for the rest of series, but I'm running a marathon this Sunday so I may skip out of the 10k. Or just run it really easy. Either way, I will be there, though. Good luck at the rest of the races!
